Richmond International Airport Awards Advertising Contract to Departure Media

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (September 26, 2007) -Richmond International Airport (RIC) has awarded management of its advertising services contract to Departure Media, one of the top four airport advertising management firms in the United States.

Under a competitive process, Departure Media was selected to manage the airport's advertising program and was chosen for their creative and unique approach to marketing methods other than common backlit signs lining airport corridors.

"Much of our success comes from offering companies designs and techniques for airport advertising that haven't been thought of in the industry," said Leslie Bensen, president and CEO of Departure Media. "These techniques have proven to increase our airport client's advertising revenue year after year and also create a return on investment for advertisers."

Departure Media currently holds advertising contracts with airports in Charlotte, N.C.; Charleston and Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Brunswick and St. Simons Island, Ga.; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Little Rock, Ark.

An example of Departure Media's technique can be seen at the airport in Brunswick, Ga., where the company created an advertising layout featuring murals of Georgia's sea islands and medallions that market resorts, golf courses and other coastal businesses. Additionally, Departure Media sold sponsorships for a range of airport amenities at Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, such as the naming rights of the airport's business center to Bank of America Corp and a sponsorship to SunCom for a parking lot where friends and family await arriving passengers.

Since 1998, Departure Media has grown Charlotte/Douglas International Airport's advertising revenue at from $700,000 a year to more than $3 million annually.

RIC's advertising contract includes in-terminal advertising, as well as outdoor advertising on the grounds of the airport. Departure Media did propose new and unique advertising display opportunities for each of these areas of the airport that would give advertisers unique and attractive advertising opportunities.
